Kevin & Heidi Cheng

Kevin Cheng was born and raised in Taiwan. Kevin came to Nebraska Christian School in Central City to study as a sophomore. While in high school, he has invited as guest pianist to play with Hastings Symphony. Kevin studied music at UNK and while there, performed as guest soloist with Lincoln Symphony, Kearney Symphony, Sandhills Symphony, and Cherokee Symphony. Kevin has also served as guest pianist to work with Kearney High School Orchestra and Grand Island Senior High School Orchestra. He has received an Arts Council grant to premier Mendelssohn Piano Concerto in A Minor in the United States.

Heidi Cheng was born and raised in Kearney, Nebraska as the youngest of six children. During high school, Heidi studied violin with Connie Moon while playing in Kearney Symphony Orchestra and Kearney Chamber Orchestra. Heidi performed at Masterworks Festival in Indiana in 2013. While serving as therapist in Kearney after college, she has also served as the principal second violinist in Kearney Symphony Orchestra.

All the classic fairy tales from one of the most adored storytellers of all time – in one show. A struggling cobbler in Denmark, Hans Christian Andersen is better at making stories than shoes. As he discovers his potential as a storyteller and writer, he ultimately gets the help he needs from the people who love him to make a future for himself. The Minden Opera House Gallery welcomes photographer Nia Karmann. Come meet the artist in person at the Minden Opera House Gallery Reception. Refreshments will be provided. Event is FREE and open to the public. Show on Display March – April. Gallery is open Tuesday—Friday 10 am to 5:30 pm, during Opera House events and by appointment.

Having been a photographer since 2006, Nia has had a very different career from most in her field. “I receive great pleasure in capturing nature’s beauty while taking photos and in doing so, it allows me to express my freedom while escaping the box that Spina Bifida creates.”

The Missoula Children’s Theatre presents JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, an original adaptation of the classic children’s story. What happens when a young boy plants Wonder Beans in his own backyard? For Jack, it is the beginning of a great adventure. With a little help from P.T. Wonder and a Giant, Jack learns a valuable lesson about true happiness. This musical production also features a host of other characters, including the Elegant Harp, Jill, Mother, Milky White, the Farmers, the Merchants, the Circus Performers and the Wonder Beans. AUDITIONS – Monday, June 29th at 10:00 am (with rehearsal for some parts in the afternoon). Approximately 50 roles are available. Students must be entering 1st through 12th grade. No advance preparation is necessary. Most students rehearse approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes each day, Monday through Thursday, but schedules may vary.

PERFORMANCES – Due to the holiday on Saturday, performances will be Fri., July 3rd at 2:00 and 4:30 pm

Tickets – Adults $7.00 / Children age 5-13 $5.00 / 4 and under FREE
